Why York is a Great Place to Study Film & Video
The York, Pennsylvania, area may be best known to filmgoers who have seen movies with storylines involving Pennsylvania's Amish communities. Probably the most famous movie filmed in the area was Witness which has spawned a “Witness Tour” of sites from the movie. Other well-known movies filmed in southeastern Pennsylvania's and the surrounding area's rural settings include The Village, Rough Cut, and The Blair Witch Project. The area heavily markets their locations to filmmakers, making it an increasingly popular place to make movies. York also is within a short driving distance of several large cities, including Philadelphia and Baltimore, where filmmaking and video production industries thrive.
